Biography

Reared in Newport News, Juli is from a large family of nine children. She inherited her artistic talent from her Hungarian father. She always knew she would be an artist, and began painting at a very young age.

While pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, she exhibited her paintings locally, selling to individual collectors, as well as to the university's permanent collection. After graduating in 1981, she continued to exhibit and worked in commericial art. Juli participated in the 1982 Virginia Beach Boardwalk Show.

Juli relocated to Charleston, South Carolina.  She exhibited with the Summerville Artists' Guild. While working as an AutoCad drafter for military contractors, she received her Master in the Art of Teaching from the Citadel. Thus, she was able to realize another dream and Juli became a teacher.
In 1994, Juli moved to Miami, and began teaching art in public high school. She continued to pursue her studio career as well as pursuing her education. She studied oil painting and pastels with Professor David Y. Chang at Florida International University. In 2001, she received her Specialist Status in Art Education.
Juli's life took an exciting change in 2002, when she met Joe Semanski, her sister's next-door neighbor in Gloucester, Virginia.  Joe, a true lover of the arts, commissioned her to create an original oil painting, "Snow Wolf."  They soon fell in love.  They were married in April 26, 2003, and she moved from Miami to Gloucester in June 2003.  His encouragement and support has led Juli to pursue a career on the outdoor art circuit, as well as to obtain gallery representation.

Grand Prize Winner

Juli Schuszler won the Grand Prize at the October 2004 "All About Art" show in Gloucester, Virginia.  The judge selected her art because of the outstanding quality of her vibrant oil paintings.

Congratulations!

Though Juli is proud to be recognized for her artwork, she realizes that she would struggle to reach her goals without the loving support of her wonderful husband, Joseph Semanski.  Their love resulted in a marriage in April 26, 2003 and Juli's relocation to Virginia.  Because of her husband's loving support, Juli has been able to focus on her art and studio career.
